Theme: Knowing God: The Path to Eternal Life!
It is a common claim for Christians that they know God. Of course, anybody can hear of God and come to know about God and his works. However, it is not the same when it comes to actually knowing God and making oneself available to be known by God through a concrete, direct, and personal relationship with God. The journey of the missionary apostles in the first reading and the converts they were making are testimonies to a life in full knowledge of God. In the gospel, Jesus declares, in the prayer made to his Father, his relationship and glory with the Father, as well as the will of the Father to bring us to eternal life in the knowledge of him which Jesus made known and clearer to us. It then suffices to ask: “Do you actually know God?” Knowing God entails a direct and personal relationship and faith conviction with God just as Jesus; for this is the path to eternal life which Jesus has shown us from the Father.
Child of God, the greatest security we can ever avail ourselves is to know God and commit ourselves into his hands. We pray today as we anticipate the coming of the Holy Spirit, for enlightenment and true knowledge of God.
